In 1876, Congress revoked its legal tender status to push circulation of the Morgan dollar, which had slightly less silver. Despite this, many Trade Dollars remained in use domestically. Nearly a century later, the Coinage Act of 1965 restored their status, making all U. S. coins legal tender once again. Today, they are prized by collectors
