Carl Johansson, Snowy Landscape With BuildingsThis late 19th century oil painting by Swedish artist Carl Johansson (1863 1944) depicts a wintery view with buildings. A prominent peak, almost crystalline, dominates this chilly vista. Towering over an abundance of snow etched by partially buried fences. On either side, the forests appear like stalagmites, flanking the farm with their brightly coloured facades. Johansson was a rebel a progressive artist influenced by the French Impressionists.
