A superb unused example, with original gum, of this rare stamp that was prepared for use but not issued lettered 'ND'. Lovely vibrant colour and gum. A scarce stamp in such fine quality. Owing to a proposed change in postal rate, 1d stamps were first printed in 1860 in rosy mauve, but the change was not approved and the greater part of the stock was destroyed.
