Abberfraw Feathers 18th April 2022I love where I live and Ive always been a bit of a magpie picking up bits and pieces on walks. April 18th was Easter Monday and we took some family over to Aberffraw for a beautiful walk around the headland. On this walk I picked up several feathers. The original design is taken from a Gyotaku print of a Sea Bass and I’ve added some of my water colour work to it to produce a digital design

Printing is just the first part of the process

If you aren't familiar with Gyotaku the process is to take an actual fish

These bass are printed on Thai mulberry paper measuring 76x51cm

The print is then left for around 24 hours to dry out

The sardine was sourced from an independent fishmonger who is a 10 minute drive from my studio

Ink is re applied each time and the feather is positioned hand so they all be different

It will be rolled in acid free tissue and sent in a poster tube
