2017 Benedetti & Grigi Montefalco Rosso DOCMontefalco Rosso is an incredibly rich, red blend unique to Umbria. Winemaker Matteo Basili crafted this full bodied red from 70% Sangiovese, 20% Sagrantino, and 10% Merlot fruit grown in the hillside vineyards around Montefalco. The fruit was hand picked and crushed at the cellar within two hours of harvest. Following temperature controlled maceration below 30C, the wine is finished for 12 months in French oak barrels and bottle aged an additional 6

Following temperature controlled maceration on the skins for 30 days

macerates in stainless steel

followed by fermentation of the must for 30 days at a fermentation temperature of 15°C

with good tannins and acidity

and bold cheeses

The light acidity gives it a finish that is crisp
