Anglesey Sea Bass Duo GyotakuThis bass was caught on a line by a local fisherman here in North Wales. It was caught on the Menai Strait. Bass are my favourite fish to print the definition you get on the scales is wonderful. Whereas most Gyotaku are made to record a fisherman's catch, I combine my experience as an oil painter and create Gyotaku that are more expressive using colour in a less conventional way. Here I have used the same fish, printing it first on one side then

I then paste the glue on the back of the print and add a second and then a third sheet of paper

It will come in a white mount with backing board which measures approx 41cm x 50cm

The prints are on Chinese xuan paper

the artwork has a soft iridescence that shifts beautifully in the light

Jane uses her lino cut prawn in the same way

creating a striking yet minimal composition

It will be wrapped in acid free tissue paper and sent in a small poster tube ready for framing and mounting

Painted using oil on primed board

For this I use a flour and water glue to adhere the print to backing paper and in the process the print becomes flat and ready to frame

and the work is supplied rolled in a protective tube
