Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru 2014A brilliantly discreet spicy nose consists of sandalwood, essence of black cherry liqueur, violets and a hint of the sauvage. There is seriously good size, weight and power to the imposingly scaled flavors that display almost painful intensity on the driving, explosively long and very firmly structured finish where a pleasing bead of minerality appears which helps to add lift to the finish. This is powerful and presently quite compact yet my sense is

and by a wide margin

from barrel immediately prior to bottling and in bottle

earth and violet-scented nose

without any sense of heaviness

There is almost painful intensity to the super-sleek big-bodied flavors that possess a positively gorgeous mouthfeel due to a mid-palate that brims with sappy dry extract that coats the mouth on the hugely long and impeccably well-balanced finale

all wrapped in a firm and moderately robust finish underpinned by firm tannins and beautiful persistence

remarkably youthful wine is still not fully mature

floral and exotic tea wisps

and toasty scents

all wrapped in a sappy and well-balanced finale that delivers superb length

the wine is quite accessible from now on

This is jaw droppingly good and somewhat curiously relative to how the two wines typically show at this stage
