With the Oaks - photogravure print - The Weekly EditionAs the model stood among the Oak trees and grasses I found myself thinking about a print made on the light and etherial Awagami Washi tissue from Japan. The pattern of the oak leaves cast by the sunlight and the subtile grasses felt dreamy to me and a perfect fit of the process I had in mind. I don't often plan the process before the picture but in this case the feel of the Washi was on my mind. If you are not familiar with this fine art printmaking

There was a light dusting of snow and we found this labyrinth someone had made out of stones

and Noir 55981 inks on Hahnemühle copperplate paper

I like that this symbol means so many different things to so many people and the conversations it can start

I find them in thrift shops

and I strive to honor the power inherent in portrait photography
