Royce HallI drew this print of Royce Hall after the overwhelming reception to my In N Out Westwood piece. I wanted to create more prints that would resonate with people connected to UCLA, knowing how many fond memories they must have from those days. This one was especially interesting to draw because the architecture is intentionally asymmetrical. Apparently, the architect built it as an homage to God, his reasoning being that humans cant create perfection,

A few years later

The very first comment I got was from someone who happened to have a contact there

Although it wasn’t raining when I visited

and I knew instantly I had to draw it

then another car

and it’s the perfect way to get one last taste of LA before you leave

I was lucky enough to visit the Magic Castle shortly before I worked on this print

But there’s something about the sign at Catalina Liquor that really caught my eye

We spent the afternoon acting out fake behind-the-scenes chaos: I played the frazzled production assistant

and it’s easy to see why Palm Springs continues to be a haven for architecture lovers and vacationers alike

just for the experience
