A Dutch silver stiletto and cover. c1860A decorative Dutch silver stiletto awl with its silver cover. The tool screws into the holder and is the full length. There is an old repair to the octagonal handle where it meets the screw section. It does have some silver marks on top of the handle and the dagger mark on the cover. 7cm long. The squab is slightly too big and hampers the closure of the lid unless it is tucked in carefully

All four have their original spangles

The pearl topped is carved to resemble a flower

The crest is that of the Parr family

In excellent condition- one is very slightly darker in colour through use

There are no marks but the black spot pastes date it to circa 1800

and in between the two is cloth for loose needles

The maker's mark is unclear-possibly over-stamped as the other one on the buckle looks the same

The steel chape is stamped 'Patent' and 'Stedman'- who was a buckle maker and jeweler in London in the 1780s

The silver thimble is an attractive one with wriggle work decoration on a frosted ground

Right in the centre is the initial W with flowers either side
