Patiently WaitingIMAGE DESCRIPTION: This is a day I will never forget, and remains one of the top three photography days I've had in my career. Everything was covered in hoar frost, creating a surreal environment to photograph great gray owls in. I spent no more than five minutes without an owl in sight all day. I still dream of this day. A small island emerges from the fog on an early summer morning

it'll chew your wires in your car

Shortly after boarding the ship in Antarctica this little mountainous island appeared  out of the clouds

A common loon (Gavia immer) nesting during a summer shower

including habitat loss for the vulnerable Tule Elk subspecies

and the sky created a beautiful array of colors and patterns on this moose pond

creating a stillness that can only be experienced in nature

On a -20ºF morning I was able to spend a half hour with this family of otters as they fished the Lamar River in Yellowstone National Park
