Richard Earlom After Jan Van Huysum, 18th-Century Still Life With FlowersThis sumptuous 18th century mezzotint engraving by Richard Earlom (1743 1822) is after a work by Dutch luminary Jan Van Huysum (1682 1749). In the late 18th century, Richard Earlom was commissioned as part of a printmaking project to reproduce Sir Robert Walpoles extensive painting collection at The Houghton Gallery. The project was initiated when it became evident that the collection would need to be sold eventually to Catherine of Russia in 1778.
