Menai Strait Lobster, Gyotaku Printed in Red inkThis lobster was caught in a pot by a local fisherman here in North Wales. It was caught in the Menai Stait. Lobster are a challenge to print as they are so 3 dimensional. Its very tricky printing the legs and their antenna. This lobster is printed on Chinese mulberry paper measuring 69. 5x34cm. Ive used a high quality screen printing ink that is both light fast and permanent. Each print I make is unique as I apply fresh ink before each print is taken

I've used Speedball Acrylic Ink and when the print was dry it was wet mounted using the Urauchi method to a second sheet of paper to give it strength and make it flat

the paper is then mounted using the traditional wet mounting technique of uruachi

their use can be optimised so that the fish can be printed many times before it needs to be disposed of in the food composting

this print offers a serene and striking addition to any room

There are 2 Sea Bass designs and 2 Lobster and 1 Octopus

backed with Japanese Masa paper

This bass is printed on Chinese Xuan Paper which is approximately 70cm x 35cm

The print is on Chinese Xuan paper and has been flattened and backed for framing using the Urauchi method
